Tip 2 - Keep it short and sweet


Make sure the subject line is concise and to the point, so restrict it to less than 50 characters if you can. You only have a few seconds to capture the attention of your reader as he/she glances through the list of emails, so your headline must convey what the content is about as succinctly as possible. Secondly, if the subject line is too lengthy, your subscribers will not be able to view all of it, which makes it that much harder to attract their attention.


Tip 3 - What are your main benefits?


If you want users to open your email, you must give them a good reason to do so. Start with the main benefit that they'll be able to gain from purchasing your product/service. For instance, if the biggest advantage your e-book offers is losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks, emphasize this in the subject line.


For example, 'Would you like to shed 10 pounds in 2 weeks?'


Notice how this headline's bang on target. It's brief, benefit-laden and packs a punch. Think anyone that's desperate to lose weight will click on it? You bet!


Now, the final point you need to keep in mind when sending emails is spam filters. Most email providers crack down on anything remotely resembling spam, and many promotional messages are instantly dumped into the junk folder if they contain phrases such as free, opportunity, sale, make money, etc.


Tip: Check out a service called e-filtrate. All you need to do is submit your email and it will immediately flag any words that might cause a problem. This is a really cool feature that enables you to tweak your subject lines and the content, accordingly.
